GGGA Students Compete at Caribbean Amateur Junior Championship

Three GGGA students are representing Trinidad and Tobago at the 24th annual Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championship this week.

2011 Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy grad Brittany Marquez, who is on her way to Harding University, joins fellow GGGA students Jessel Mohammed and brother Matthew Marquez, all of which were in the full-time junior program at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

The 54-hole event gets underway Wednesday with Barbados playing host at Barbados Golf Club against the junior teams of Trinidad and Tobago, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, OECS, Puerto Rico and USVI.

The Caribbean Amateur Junior Championship is played annually and is rotated amongst the members of The Caribbean Golf Association. The event was first played in Puerto Rico in 1988 and includes in three divisions for boys and girls 11- 17 years old.
