The Gary Gilchrist Academy has long been committed to junior golf and growing the game.
GGGA, which offers complete junior, collegiate, and professional golf training, has extended its partnership with the American Junior Golf Association, which since 1978 has been dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.
The AJGA events will include the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior at Seagate in Delray, Florida, April 24-26, the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Preseason Junior at Innisbrook in Palm Harbor, Florida, April 10-12, the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior at Old South in Lothian, Maryland, July 6-9, the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior at Dedham in Dedham, Mass., July 20-23, and the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy / Shanshan Feng Junior at Stockton in Stockton, California, August 17-20. In total the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy will sponsor 4 open events and 1 pre-season event that will encompass some of the best junior players in the world.
“Growing the game and challenging young golfers to improve in this great game has always been important to me,” said Gilchrist, who has been recognized as a Golf Digest Top 50 Teacher the past four years. “Additionally by partnering with AJGA, we can connect with international students to a great association that dramatically increases their chances of becoming top collegiate players.”
The Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy understands the essential role that the AJGA plays in developing some of the best junior players in the world, and with over 300 AJGA alumni having played on the PGA and LPGA Tours, who have earned more than 350 Tour victories, the AJGA is an essential foundation for developing exceptional talent throughout the junior golf community.
The Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy has also been awarded a total of 15 tournament exemptions, which are to be used evenly throughout all GGGA tournament events. These exemptions will be available to all GGGA qualifying tournament champions, which will incorporate some of the best junior players around the world. These qualifier tournaments are organized by the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy to juniors looking to earn a spot within the GGGA sponsored events. Tournament dates and locations will be announced later in the new year.
Gilchrist founded the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy in 2008, choosing Mission Inn Resort &
Club and Montverde Academy as his two main partners. The Academy is committed to excellence in every facet of golf, fitness, personal development and academics. GGGA features a full time residential and boarding program for juniors wishing to pursue elite academics and golf training while also offering summer golf camps, winter golf camps and private training year round for adults, professionals and college players.
Over the first six years, Gilchrist’s students have experienced tremendous success, amassing
150+ wins across the junior, collegiate, amateur and professional ranks. During that time, though spending a majority of his time focusing on junior development, Gilchrist helped lead Yani Tseng to the No. 1 ranking, a spot she held for nearly two years while claiming four major championships and 22 wins worldwide in a two year span from 2010-2012. Gilchrist also led Shanshan Feng, of China, to the No. 3 ranking in the world, while coaching her to a major championship of her own and more than 10 professional wins worldwide. Gilchrist has also coached players such as Michelle Wie, Charles Howell III, D.A. Points, Peter Hanson and many other top professionals, juniors and amateurs.
