Another big weekend as GGGA Pro Tommy Cocha Wins Second PGA Tour LA at the 84º Abierto OSDE del Centro. This win makes this Cocha’s second straight PGA Tour LA win after winning at the Mazatlan Open just last month and his third tour victory in his career. Cocha became the first player to win two consecutive tournaments on PGA TOUR Latinoamérica.
The 23-year old from Salta, Argentina has been training with GGGA Coach Hernan Rey for a little over a year and it’s obvious that after this second straight tour win that his training has really benefited Cocha. Prior to these two back-to-back wins, Cocha’s last Tour win was nearly three years ago.
“To start the year like this is a dream. The victory in Mexico boosted my confidence, but I didn’t come here seeking a win. With the way I have been striking the ball lately, my only goal was to have another solid week, and I ended up winning, which makes it perfect,” said Cocha.
Cocha led the tournament entering the final round on Sunday. Although a couple bogey’s may have rattled the young Argentine golfer, after the turn, he managed to make eagle on the par-5 12th and birdie No. 15, 16, and 18 to steal the win.
Cocha finished Sunday at 9-under par 275. The field was neck and neck until Cocha managed to sink three birdies on his last four holes, creating a gap in the lead. Cocha’s win was well deserved after he undershot two-time major champion Angel Cabrera and Steven Fox. They both finished second place under Cocha.
