AJGA Puerto Rico Open update: Maurer, Blandin T7 after second round

GGGA students Maxime Blandin and Emilio Maurer are five shots back from playing with the pros.

Blandin and Maurer, both of whom are students in the Full-Time Junior Program at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy, are tied for seventh at 3-over 147 at the AJGA Puerto Rico Junior Open with an exemption into the PGA Tour’s Puerto Rico stop on the line.

Maurer, of Mexico, carded a 1-over 73 while Blandin, of France, turned in a 5-over 77 at Trump International Golf Club.

At the inaugural event last year, GGGA students swiped both the boy’s and girl’s divisions. Jason Roets, who is now a freshman at the University of North Texas, won the boy’s title, while Monifa Sealy, now a freshman at the University of Central Florida, took the girl’s division.
