GGGA student Carlos Riascos wins PJT ChampionsGate

GGGA student Carlos Riascos notched his first win at the PJT event at ChampionsGate Golf Club Sunday.

Riascos, of Colombia and student in the Full-Time Junior Program at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy opened with a 78 on the International Course and trailed by one going into the final round.

Riascos, a 2016 graduate, was never phased being right near the lead. Just a few weeks earlier at ChampionsGate, Riascos co-led another Premier Junior Tour event before losing in a playoff. This time around, Riascos came out in full force with birdies on Nos. 1, 2 and 3 to quickly turn his deficit into a lead. Riascos added one more birdie to card an even-par 72 for the one-shot win in the Boys 13-15 Division.

In the Girls 15-18 Division, GGGA student Qiqi Wang, of China, also had a solid weekend, taking third place.
