GGGA Student Camilo Mexsen Wins IMG Julliette Falls

Juliette Falls Golf Club was no match for GGGA Student Camilo Mexsen.

Mexsen, of Mexico and a student in the Full-Time Junior Program at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy posted back-to-back rounds in the 60s and was in control from the moment of his first tee shot. Mexsen took a commanding four-shot win and posted a two-day total of 8-under 136.

This isn’t the first big win for Mexsen, 16, and a 2016 graduate. He also won the Optimist International Tournament of Champions 2013 and the IMG Eagle Creek twice in 2012 and 2013..

For the third year in a row, the award winning Julliette Falls Golf course in Dunnellon, Fl hosted the IMG Junior Golf Tour this past weekend. The two day tournament challenged the junior golfers with the demanding terrain of this hidden gem.

Mexsen played both rounds at the Julliette Falls Golf Course near perfect. Mexsen opened with a 5-under 67 where he tallied 1 eagle, 4 birdies and a bogey and closed Sunday with a 3-under 69 with 4 birdies and a bogey to win the Boys 15-18 Division.

Mexsen wasn’t the only GGGA student vying for a win on Sunday however.

Fellow GGGA students Emma Mesta, of Mexico, and Gavrilla Arya, of Indonesia, also were chasing victory and were T2 after the first round and would finish 3rd and 4th at 3 over par and 4 over par.
