GGGA student Thomas Yint Wins HJGT East Lake Woodlands

With the pressure at it’s highest, GGGA student Thomas Yint was at his best.

Yint (right), of Burma and a student in the Full-Time Junior Program at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy, birdied Nos. 17 & 18 to hold off fellow GGGA student Kevin Yu (left).

Yint, a senior and 2015 graduate, started out strong, quickly establishing himself as the leader. His first round totaled (-2) which landed him a 5 point lead over Yu. The leaderboard was quickly gaining on Yint during the final nine. However, Yint did not let this pressure affect him. To broaden the gap between him and the leaderboard, he sunk two consecutive birdies on the final two holes, taking the win. His overall score for the two day challenge was 146 (+2) while Yu, of Taiwan, took second at 4-over-par.

With a commitment of providing young golfers with an opportunity to play in a competitive environment on impressive courses, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008. HJGT held it’s latest challenge this past weekend in Oldsmar, Florida at East Lake Woodlands Country Club. The 2 day weekend challenge was met with beautiful Florida weather. Perfect weather for a win.

With the win, Yint received four AJGA stars followed by an invitation to the 2015 Mid-Season Invitation. This is Yint’s second win as a student at GGGA. He also won an FCWT in 2013.
