GGGA student Gavrilla Arya capped off a big weekend for the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy, winning her first FCWT event.
While Morgan Hoffmann was making a run at a win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Arya was putting the finishing touches of her own on a victory. The 17-year old senior has already committed to Wichita State University and this weekend won her first FCWT tournament.
Arya, from Indonesia and a student in the Post Graduate Program at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy, led the Girls division both rounds over the weekend, securing her win Sunday. She went wire-to-wire with consecutive rounds of 72 to win by 7 shots. Arya had a total of 5 birdies and 26 pars during both rounds at Feather Sound. In the Girls division, Arya remains number 1 for lowest scoring average of 72.0.
The FCWT Junior Golf Tournament at Feather Sound Country Club in Clearwater, FL, ran from March 21-22, 2015 and Sixty-four junior golfers from 9 states and 12 countries competed in the 36-hole stroke play tournament. All GGGA students have the opportunity to compete in The Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young men and women to showcase their talent as they pursue their dream of earning a college golf scholarship. The FCWT provides over 40 different junior golf tournaments across the United States per year.
