Unlike most Florida golf tournaments, the final round of the Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT) Junior Golf Tournament at MetroWest started out a bit chilly. However, the cold front didn’t detour GGGA Student, Alejandro Madariaga of Puebla, Mexico from winning the Boys 12-14 division.
Madariaga, a student in the Full-Time Junior Program, remained consistent under pressure over the course of the weekend, playing 36-holes among 80 other junior golfers vying for a shot at winning an FCWT Junior Golf Tournament.
Madariaga’s low scoring round Sunday afternoon secured his win with a 2-under-par 70 to end the weekend at 141 (-3). This is not Madariaga’s first big accomplishment on the FCWT Junior Tour. Madariaga has already secured three Top 5 finishes.
Another one of GGGA’s students, Pyae Thu of Myanmar, finished right behind Madariaga in third place in the Boy’s 12-14 division. The two were able to celebrate their victories with each other, making the victory’s a little sweeter for them both. It was a GGGA takeover.
The FCWT Junior Golf Tournament at MetroWest at MetroWest Country Club in Orlando, FL, ran from March 28-229, 2015.The course proved challenge as it was recently voted the best golf course in Orlando by Golf Digest. All GGGA students have the opportunity to compete in The Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young men and women to showcase their talent as they pursue their dream of earning a college golf scholarship. The FCWT provides over 40 different junior golf tournaments across the United States per year.
