Shanshan Feng was admittedly nervous entering the final round, attempting to win another title in her home country of China.
Feng, of Guangzhou and a student of Gary Gilchrist, entered the final round with a seven-shot lead going into Sunday at the Ladies European Tour Buick Championship at Shanghai Qizhong Garden Golf Club.
It showed right from the start as Feng opened with a double-bogey on No. 1 while Hyeon So Kang notched birdies at Nos. 1 and 2 to cut the lead quickly to three. Feng, ranked No. 5 in the world, entering the event, rallied quickly, showing her experience being one of the top players in the world by picking up birdies on Nos. 3 and 4.
Feng posted a 2-under 70 en route to a six shot win, finishing the event at 17-under 271 for career win number 13.
“I’m really honored to win my sponsor’s tournament,” said Feng, after sealing her fourth LET title.
Following a T8 at the ANA Inspiration, the 2012 Wegmans LPGA Champion has nine top 10s in her last 15 major championship appearances with four majors left of the 2015 schedule: Women’s US Open, Ricoh Women’s British Open, Evian Championship and the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
