Maria Jose Rojas is headed to Illinois State University!
Meet Maria Jose Rojas from Bogota, Colombia! She has been golfing for eleven years and has been training with Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy for three years. Her favorite golfer is Ricky Fowler and when she is not golfing she enjoys watching movies, traveling and spending time with her family.
WHY ARE YOU SIGNING WITH ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERSITY?
I really like the team. When I went and visited the University I truly felt like I was home.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO MAJOR IN?
Interior Decorating.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST GOING TO ISU?
I’ll get to improve my game and learn from my teammates. Playing with ISU will make me more experienced and help me set goals.
WHO HAD THE BIGGEST IMPACT IN GETTING YOU WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?
My parents.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT GGGA?
The people that are here. They always support you, no matter what. They are your second family… And of course, the golf!
WHAT IMPACT HAS GGGA HAD IN GETTING YOU WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?
I’ve gained a lot of experience. I’ve matured a lot and developed a plan for my golf game. I’m driven.
ADVICE TO TO FUTURE SIGNEES?
Start talking to colleges as soon as possible – it is never to early to send e-mails. Even if they don’t reply, just keep reaching out. Make sure you visit schools!
Sofia Gomez Enriques Riart is going to Northern Illinois University
Meet Sofia Gomez Enriques Riart from Asunción, Paraguay! She has been golfing for eight years and has been training with Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy for three years. Her favorite golfer is Julieta Granada and when she is not golfing she enjoys travelling, kickboxing and reading.

I like the team, the facilities and the university so much.

Business Administration with a minor in Human Resources.

I’m looking forward to playing with other talented golf players and learning to be our best together. It moves me one step closer to going pro.

Have as many college visits as you can! Go with your gut. You will know what is the best choice!
