Meet Nicole Lu from Taipei, Taiwan! She has been golfing for 7 years and has been training with Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy in the Full-Time Program for 3 years. When Nicole isn’t golfing she enjoys reading and anything that involves being in nature! Nicole just signed with the University of North Carolina!
Who is your favorite golfer? So Yeon Ryu and Jordan Speith
Why are you signing with the University of North Carolina? I love everything about the school. The campus is amazing and it makes you feel like home despite its size. My coaches are great people and I believe that I will learn a lot from them. The girls on my team are also people who I look up to very much. UNC was somewhere I dreamt of going to a long time ago and It’s really cool to make that dream come true.
What are you looking forward to most about being a ‘Carolina Tar Heel’? I really look forward to practicing and hanging out with the girls on the team. Most of all I can’t wait to represent my school and compete in tournaments!
What does the opportunity to play college golf mean to you? It means a lot to me because I can get a good education while doing something I love.
Who has had the biggest impact in getting you where you are today? My family and my coach Matt Fields.
What is your favorite thing about GGGA? I love the high diversity of people we have at GGGA. There are students from all over the world and you can always learn so much from each person. I also love the fact that we are like a big family.
What impact has GGGA had in getting you where you are today? GGGA has helped me improve my game and grow as a person. It helped me to learn how to take care of myself without my parent’s help and to solve problems on my own.
What are you most proud of? Shooting under par in a tournament!
What advice do you have for future signees? Don’t limit yourself to anything. Always try even if you think you don’t have a chance because you never know what you can do and who you can be.
Nicole was part of the GGGA Full-Time Junior Golf Program. Juniors attend the Full-Time Junior Program at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy because they want to be the best,train with the best, and be around other juniors to push them to new heights.
