Nico Para T4 at IJGT Falcons Fire

GGGA student Nico Para tied for fourth at the IJGT Falcons Fire over the weekend, finishing the two-day event at 1 over par.

Para, of Chile and who is a student in the post-graduate program at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy, was just three back going into the final round Sunday at 1 under with four other players within just a couple shots of the lead in the boys 15-19 division.

After firing a 1-under 71 in beautiful conditions Saturday at Falcons Fire Golf Club, Para would have a tougher test ahead with a windy and rainy afternoon Sunday.

The conditions proved difficult to maneuver in the early going as Para made the turn at 3 over 39. Para rebounded though with his second and third birdies of the day on Nos. 14 and 16 to come in at 1 under 35 and finish his final round at 2 over par.

“It was tough out there Sunday,” Para said. “but it was fun. I had a great time, and the course was great.”

Para’s 71 was his lowest competitive round of the summer after spending the last three months training at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

quick stats:

  • Para was second in par 3 performance with a 2.88 scoring average
  • Para T1 for most birdies with 8
  • Para T4 at 2 over par with rounds of 71 & 74
