HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The 99-year-old El Campeón Golf Course at Mission Inn Resort & Club and home of the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy, has been ranked the second-best golf course in the nation and the best in Florida for 2015 by Golf Advisor, the leading website community of reviewers.
In the recently announced “Best Of Golf Advisor 2015” Top 25 U.S. rankings, El Campeón received a Five-Star designation overall, the highest ranking possible.
Opened in 1917, El Campeón (“The Champion”) is one of the South’s vintage 18-hole golf courses. An original member of the 53-course Florida Historic Golf Trail, El Campeón showcases classic golf course design as well as sharp elevation changes unique to the Central Florida region.
